Summer Reading

Over the summer, I, much like many others like to read. However, we have too much stuff at home, so we don’t buy books anymore. The solution: the bookstore. Without buying anything, take the books you want, and just read. Smart, right? ;) K, so now I list my top five favorite books (not in order, I love them all.)

  1.  Kiki Strike: Inside the Shadow City by Kirsten Miller- Anaka Fishbein is thrown into a world of adventure & discovers an underground city. The second book is The Empress’s Tomb.
  2. Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling is a classic. Starts with a famous 11 year old wizard becoming the wizard to defeat the infamous dark wizard Lord Voldemort (a.k.a. He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named). Seven books in the series.
  3. The Fire Within series by Chris D’Lacey is about a man named David who is a tenant to a woman and her daughter who make clay dragons. Very exciting and interesting. Five books in the series.
  4. Bone by Jeff Smith- A nine book graphic novel series about three bones that were run out of town. Also a prequel and a handbook.
  5. The Percy Jackson & the Olympians by Rick Riordan- a five book series about a half-blood (half god, half mortal) is now a part of a world where a monster could be about to strike at any moment.

Comment back to tell me what books you like, or what books you like that are on the list. Happy reading! :p :O :)

I’m not much of a book reader any more. I read online news, magazines, and blogs, but not many regular books, unless you count techie manuals and journals (geek!).

I also like hanging out at book stores. My favorite is Barnes & Nobles (BTW, I had a summer job at one) that has an adjoining Starbucks. It’s always nice and cool inside, especially in the summer, and I can have some coffee (with free refills!), read the paper, and use their free wifi. The day flies by whenever I’m in one.

Yeah, you can also go to the library for that. You can read in the comfort of your own home, and you don’t have to worry as much about getting kicked out.

    If I may?
There’s going to be a Glee book series!

Great blog, Bunny Queen! I also enjoyed the Kiki Strike and the Harry Potter Series. I recently read The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and I highly recommend it. It is the first of a three book series and the third book is coming out soon. I have to get started on the second. By the way, when is the third Kiki book coming out? It’s taking an awfully long time.

My favorite types of books are history books, graphic novels, fantasy, and comic books.

p.s. Usagi Yojimbo is the best! (it’s a graphic novel about a bunny ronin)

  6. Yes, AY, but in the bookstore, you have more selection, and sometimes better air conditioning. Sometimes there’s a Starbucks, too! :)
Rosie, you may be the biggest Gleek I know! I wonder if the books are going to be written versions of the TV shows, or new stories.
Thatgirl, I read both Kiki Strike books, and now working on the seventh Harry Potter! I read the first few chapters in the Hunger Games, and it’s really interesting! I don’t know when the third Kiki Strike is coming out, and the author is taking a really long time.
Jupiter, I don’t read a lot of history books, but everything else are some of my favorites! I’ve never read Usagi Yojimbo, but it’s perfect for the blog! BUNNY ronin!!!
